Past censuses show that the Kwun Tong is one of the districts in Hong Kong having a high portion of elderly population.
Knowing the importance of creating an elderly-friendly environment, Kwun Tong District has been actively studying elderly policies and services. Its efforts got recognised by the World Health Organisation in 2017 and it became a member of the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities.
The elderly has contributed a lot to society and laid foundation for present developments. To give them credits and show gratitude, we have made them the subject of this Column. We also hope that the public will care more about the elderly and what they need.
