Electronics Industry

The electronics industry in Hong Kong started earlier than that of South Korea and Taiwan, and the development was rapid. While the electronics industry was still a newly emerged local industry in the 60s, in the early 80s, Hong Kong already became a high-tech hub in Asia, transferring technology to the neighbouring regions.

The electronics industry was labour-intensive in nature and required a large number of workers to do the assembling job. That is why we have made the workers the subject of the Column. On the Column, we have also depicted the “beeper”, i.e. a wireless telecommunication device, which has once been regarded as a fashionable gadget so that we can reflect upon our youthful past. Let us find it together!
