Catering Industry

People attach great importance to food. In recent years, various types of restaurants have sprung up successively in Kowloon East following its new planning and development, turning the area into a food paradise. Take Kwun Tong as an example, one can find all kinds of catering shops there, ranging from bakeries, coffee shops to restaurants serving a variety of cuisines. Many of them are located in old industrial buildings, highlighting the characteristics of Kwun Tong. People get attracted to visit the district for both new restaurants and long-time honoured restaurants.

Under this theme, we have chosen Cha Chaan Teng (Hong Kong-style tea restaurants) which represents Hong Kong’s catering industry. On the Column, we try to recreate a realistic Cha Chaan Teng for you by featuring the all-time key figures - Cha Chaan Teng waitress as the subject of the Column, together with a traditional Cha Chaan Teng background. We have also prepared a huge bowl of appetising luncheon meat and egg noodles as an “invitation” for us to take some time out of our hectic schedules to just meet and eat.
